My favorite all around rifle is a Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag, 18" bbl.
With old eyes and a scope zeroed @100 it shoots a little over 1" high @ 50 and 14" low @ 200 w/3" groups. Good enough to send any deer to the meat pot.
