What you learned is pretty much true.The desire for peace is so great , however, that we try to acheive it ,even if it is a"cold" peace. Nobody wants bloodshed. The problem is that Arafat seems to want all of Israel.
When peace agreements give him land he agrees.If he wants more he returns to violence. Now, he's even let out Hammas bombers to stir up terrorism.
The "left" in Israel is really disappointed now that it is obvious that the man is no partner for Peace. The "right" just says -"we told you so".
