The usefulness of the .300 BLK is to have a 30cal round which can be fired out of an AR-15/M4 while using the existing magazines to full capacity, existing bolts.
To have the same ballistics as 7.62x39 when using supersonic ammo and the ability to use subsonic ammo for use with a suppressor.
The ability to fire .30 cal subsonic rounds with a supressor is the most interesting reason for most.
