As far as getting good performance out of a rifle caliber in an encore, please remember that the ruger scout rifle has only about a 16" barrel, and the socom rifle has the same, VS an encore with a 15" barrel so the performance is still very impressive and about the same.

I am getting 2650 FPS ( 150 gr NBT ) out of my .308 encore with a 15" barrel...far more than ordinary handgun rounds in terms of long range performance.
