military brass do make a difference.

Speer Manual says to decrease powder charge when using military brass, because thicker case walls mean smaller powder cavity.

I had loaded for 308win some sierra 168gr hpbt match with a modest 42.0gr of win748, using strings of several different cases on hand.

When I worked through to the Lake City Match brass, noise and recoil increased and the group (still an inch and half at 200 yards) jumped up two inches. Interesting.

That is what I most like about reloading - learning the subtlties of different powders, bullet designs, etc. This from a guy who used to just ask the hardware store guy for a box of 'the cheapest stuff you've got.'
