Don't know If it is fact or not, but a LGS told me the 22 rimfire hording was mostly doomsday preppers. Lots of ammo can be stored in a small space.
I think that may be be
part of the reason, but also many casual shooters own only 22 rimfire guns, so they are stocking up as well.
Doomsday prepper, or twice a year plinker the bottom line is a fear and distrust of the current administration.
