I was in the same boat a couple years ago, i wanted a well made accurate semi-action rifle for deer hunting, long range precision shooting and possibly for 3gun comps... long story short i decided it is worth more to spend the money on a .308 in the FNAR platform 20" bull barrel- its average weight compared to other .308's like M1 or ar10's. I'm thrilled with it- recoil is similar to my beretta 390 12g. If for some reason i need a 243, ill just borrow my brothers.
fnar came with 3 different size but pad and cheek rest.
