The trouble with a double action convertable is that it usually involves more than just a cylinder change. When S&W had their convertable, it involved a complete cylinder and yoke. Other wise you would have to break down the cylinder every time you wanted to change calibers. Not very convenient and of course the cost a major part like the cylinder and yoke didn't help. It's not as simple as changing the cylinder in a single action. Would you really pay a hundred more for a convertible 22 revolver, most people didn't. ( Today the cost would probably be 200 to 250 more )
