Yea, I just went shooting this weekend. I had never shot a .308 before and I had just gotten one. I shot it without hearing protection for the first shot, to see just how loud it really is. It was weird....it was loud, but it didn't really hurt. However, I did notice a slight ringing in my ears and I knew I'd be done if I had done it all day. So I slapped some earmuffs on and I was good for the rest of the day.
