Because even after 100+ its still a solid platform and battle proven to work. Not to mention the cartridge is a good anti personnel round with low moderate recoil. Also it doesnt take 17 rounds to do do mega damage. Not saying there is anything wrong with todays pistols but there isnt anything wrong with the 1911 either.
