It is a spent case.
The thing is all those pieces in the extractor/ejector area move just fine. Like I said, Ruger just worked on it, and I before I cleaned it this evening, I checked to movement on all of those parts again. I am pretty serious about oiling parts...these had plenty of lube and were clean.
