I have a 4" 686-4, it has not made it to the carry conceal rotation yet, but still looking into it. I find what I am carrying the most lately is a J-frame 642 or the Sig 232, both are about the same size, and I have been carrying on my ankle the most. The ankle carry with boots is not bad, it keeps the weapon from sliding down. The most comfortable method of carrying is shoulder holster but that is not an option most of the time.
