One of the gun mags did a test just a few months ago to find the best slug for rifled barrels and for smoothbores. But they came up with the same answer- Federal TruBall slugs. Not as flat shooting as some of the sabot slugs out of a rifled barrel, but more accurate. Not as heavy as some other rifled slugs, but more accurate. Not as fast as some others, just more accurate. If you can't hit what you are shooting at, velocity doesn't matter.
