That story about the range floor sounds like it was brewed up after a few too many cold "brews".
Hell vacuum it up with what ever you have and pitch it in the yard, down the toilet, or in a nearby body of water.........pond, lake, bayou, canal, etc. I have used my trusty Sears shop vac, the wifes Rainbow vacuum (that one deposits the suckings in water), and my lil 12 volt car vac. Once a year weather the floor needs it or not.
