CCI primers have always been harder than Rem or Federal. I've seen "combat" tuned revolvers with way-too-light hammer springs misfire with CCI-primed ammo (reloads AND factory) while they always go boom with Winchesters.

The newer "milspec" CCI primer just might be different only by being tested. Dunno, but I DO remember that not a single M1 slamfire I heard of in the '80s involved CCI primers. And that was before they came out with the #34.
