You are 100% correct in your observation and is one of the primary reasons for many of the malfunctions cataloged in this forum
. Knowing how to correctly operate the scattergun surprisingly fixes lots of faults in the gun.
OR as my daddy use to say, it's most likely the Indian not the arrow when the target is missed.
