I just ordered a Remington SPS Varmint in a .308.....Heavy barrel,it's supposed to be ready to pick up tomorrow,I had the barrel trimmed to 18".....They are a great rifle,I got mine brand new for $595.00......They are about the best action overall rifle around for the price,thats just my opinion tho......I have never owned a Savage,but I am told they are the best out of the box gun on the market today by a lot of people....My 700's might not compete with the Savages out of the box,but after tweaking at the range they are just as good,if not better........But then I am always looking for an excuse to shoot....Good luck with your decision,and have fun...
