Re mil surplus powder, when I was shooting rifles, I used WC 846 in 308 bolt guns for severalyears. Aside from the muzzle flash, and the now and then "big orange ball of fire", which I only saw once, I never had any trouble with the stuff, and it shot very accurately for 200 and 300 yard rapid fire stages, in my rifles.

As I recall, it fell between Ball C Lot 2 ands H-335 in burning rate.
