Ballistol was made to clean out corrosive residue. It is water based. Though I still use water. I spray cheap ammonia down the chamber, and bore. Let it soak till I get home. I then spray some more, and wait a few minutes. I pour hot, as in hot from the tap hot water to flush it out with. Rinse one more time. I then run a few dry patches. Then clean like normal. The ammonia helps to get the copper fouling out as well. Lots of blue liquid, will come out of the barrel.
