Realistically, with the height over bore of the AR, there is only so much you can do. At short ranges, even with the sights cranked, you are still going to have holdover. So rather than have a zero that is useful only in a very narrow range and then still have holdover worries, I just use a 50yd zero and holdover for close range shots.
