I too dislike slop between my upper and lower receivers on AR rifles. My solution is to glass bed the upper and lower receivers using release agent on the lower. By having the bedding compound attached to the upper allows you to fit different uppers with different tolerances. I put one of those little rubber wedges in to force the upper away from lower at maximum distance while acraglass set up. The result is a rock solid upper-lower fit.
