There's a reason we generally say "shoot to stop the threat" and "once the threat is over, quit shooting." While I agree we don't have a lot of detail, a fleeing person who does not seem to have committed a crime against the homeowner does not seem to me to be a threat.
I expect it will go very badly for Mr. Yazdi, and based on what is being reported, that is probably the way it should go.
