Perhaps it was the ejector that was bent and you either freed it up or broke it off.

You should try an empty shell in the chamber and see if the firing pin will make a good dent in it and whether the shell will extract/eject. If that all works, you should be okay.

Clean the bore to remove any dirt, but it should be fine. A problem I've found in old .22LR bores is when people used a lot of .22 Shorts in them and eroded the chamber. Then, Longs and Long Rifle ammo doesn't extract easily.
