The earlier Post 64s generally have a lower pricing than later. By 1979, just a few years before the change over to USRAC in 1981, Winchester had finally made significant progress to improve the quality of fit finish and some specific parts that had suffered in the prior decade-plus. Consistency was still at times spotty and some will take issue with their particular gun, but more quality guns were being turned out--and you'll find a higher percentage of better guns from that later period that came much closer to the vaunted Pre 64s. In some markets, the price difference isn't that pronounced as the above is somewhat of a well kept secret, and you'll find some "finds" like the post above. Elsewhere, the more knowledgeable buyers will usually look--and pay at least a bit more--for one of these later guns.
