First, you bought a good scope!
Second, it's not as simple as asking what dot is good for what range. A lot of variables come into play from what caliber and loading you are shooting to what power you have the scope set to.
If you go out to the Nikon website, look at their Spot On ballistics software that is designed to maximize your BDC reticle. I have the app on my phone and like it a lot.
From there you select the scope you own, the caliber and either comercial loading or hand load data, tell it where you are zeroed, and it will tell you the rest. It even has the ballistics charts you can reference, and the app can use your current atmospherics for drift and to fine tune the BDC.
