I am considering re-tasking an old 'Ranger 5000' - 12 guage into sort of a 'Lupara' home defense gun. I don't know the vintage since there is no serial number. The receiver and forearm are both stamped C5389 - from this I assume it might have been early in a production run but not sure. I was thinking a good cleaning, oiling and chopping the barrels to around 19 inches. My only concern is would it handle modern loads. Any thought/comments would be appreciated.
