The three had just left the house when Bohannon pulled the gun and was ready to shoot, thinking he had heard something moving in the woods. According to the affidavit, Bohannon realized there was nothing in the woods. With his hand still on the gun and his finger still on the trigger, he started pushing the stroller and the gun went off.
One bullet hit Travis Bohannon in the head. Bohannon picked up his son and ran back to the house, giving the gun to his girlfriend Tonya Salesman, who threw the gun into the woods before calling 911. Originally Bohannon told police the shot came from behind him and that it was a random bullet.
