Certainly it's good.

Typically the Sportsman models were better finished than the current Express guns.

Again, the Sportsman was an earlier Remington move to make a gun with a lesser cosmetic finish and wood at a lower price.

I "think" the Sportsman models used hardwood instead of walnut.

A big difference between the Sportsman and the Express is, the Sportsman didn't use cheaper components like the Express's plastic trigger guard.
The Sportsman was more or less a Wingmaster with a cheaper finish.
