Modern Astras are fantastic pistols for the money. I would definitely grab that A100 for $300 and carry it without hesitation. The older stuff like the 300 and 600 are the ones where soft metal is an issue- the A-75, 80, and 100 are solid as a brick. Not the sexiest finish by any stretch but darn good for daily carry and dependable. A friend of mine had a sexy Italian Beretta he got on the cheap but never carried it, whereas I always had mine on me. He asked to see mine and said "Well, if I were comparing it to cars, this would be like a Chevy." To which I said "It doesn't sit gathering dust in the garage at home
