I called SIG and was asked to send pictures. So I did, and 30 minutes later i got a response.

Jay at SIG customer service says "A dye is introduced into the hard coat during the anodizing process. As the hard coat (and subsequently the dye)wears, a little discoloration can occur. Most of the time it’s the bronze color seen, but sometimes it lightens the dye, so it looks purple. Nothing to worry about."

I'll accept that.
