So offering an alternative to buying junk ($100 or less optic) is bad advice? I think that's useful information even if it might not be what the OP can afford or want to hear. Maybe he will reconsider and save up a bit to afford a $400 optic, not exactly "high end" when compared to optics that cost 2 to 3 times as much, and doesn't necessarily require pockets bulging with money.
