I bought a Maverick as my first HD gun. I was poor and could not afford what I thought I wanted. After having my 88 a while I decided I would "trade up" to a Mossberg 500. After handling one I decided that even though the 500 has much better fit and finish, the different fore end it uses rattles and feels much cheaper to me than the ole 88. Besides, the Maverick is made in El Paso, TEXAS!
