One thing made me wince about that story.
That is definitely something my Dad would have said... (facepalm) (ugghh)
The biggest problem is that I probably would have been standing at the counter with him when he said it. He likes to take me with him as his "resident gun expert" and he has said many a cringe worthy things at the gun counter...
