I've heard this from others,but can't figure it out since it's really pretty common in the powder industry to name products in the same line in a similar fashion.
Many of Alliant's pistol powders are called "(Color) Dot",and their rifle powders are "Reloader XX".
Most of IMR's rifle powders are "IMR 4XXX".


You have to read the details in this hobby....

Hodgdon named all three powders in that fashion,because they all use the same technological breakthrough to achieve their clean burning properties.
