Many times in my life (67) I've walked up on them still alive after I've shot. A few times I've witnessed their urge to survive and tenacious attempts to stand. I've also had deer moan directly at me also. Sorry to say. It's something one doesn't forget. Time doesn't seem to heal over that memory. Well for me it hasn't. Anyway, we all encounter experiences while hunting. Some good. Some not so good. You did the best you could under the circumstances Sir._
