887 for varmints? thats a really interesting concept. I'm curious what your version of Varmints consist of? ( I have no clue where you are located )
Usually something like a .223 to provide some distance, an accurate measure and hey some practice ; is more applicable.
Honestly, if you are using the 887 for some sort of close range pest it certainly is not going to fall apart.. but for the cash, why not have the better gun? = 870
