As others have stated and I have said, we are our own worst enemies. When I read these accounts of people placing buying everything in sight even though it is more than they would ever shoot in the next several years. All this does is empty the shelves, leave nothing for others and drive up the prices.
Personally, I have nearly 5000 rounds of 22LR and a few thousand rounds of various (9mm, 38spl, .357mag, .223/5.56 and 20ga) other calibers. Based on my average usage that is enough to keep me shooting for well over a year. I bought my ammo gradually, when on sale and I to keep buying just enough to keep ahead of what I shoot.
While I get why AR-15, AK-47 and high capacity magazines are being bought out, I just don't understand this panic hoarding of ammo, especially the 22LR. There are no serious efforts to do anything about ammunition. Sure I have heard all the crazy stuff about micro stamping or huge taxes but nothing that has any serious chance of happening.
