I traded for a LNIB 5" JM PC627 V-Comp some years back. Unreal trigger. A bit unwieldy - the comp or muzzle blank is something else to clean. Replacement front sights are difficult to find. Then, the '08 S&W catalog intro-ed two new 4" 627s - a production version and a feature-laden '627 Pro' variant. The latter is only $56 more, MSRP, and includes eased ejector star for faster reloads, moonclip ready, a modicum of a trigger job, and, my favorite, a spring-loaded front sight for fast sight changes without tools. It was my choice:
The 4" 627 Pro points easily - and naturally. It is my favorite - my keeper. I reload, so my .357's are wimpy plinkers - really just .38s in longer cases. You could buy the 627 Pro, the aftermarket Ahrends 'Retro Target' grips, the SDM fiber optic front sight, a bunch of moonclips (... and a demooning nutdriver!), ammo, and a 'Happy Meal' for what you'd save from the cost of the PC 327 TR 8, etc. You'll like any of them, of course.
