OK man this is what I load for my 5r in a 300wm.get you some 208gn A-max's or 210gn Bergers.then a keg of H1000 and load some cases with 74gns and work up in .3gn imcrements to 76gn's.I am all so useing a 215m primer with Remmy brass.even seatting the bullets .010 off the lands.if I am not wrong the coal is around 3.600.

my first loadd was at 76gn's that gave me 4.5" groups at 500 yards.now thats not a great 5 shoot group but the loaded rounds wasn't loaded BR style either.

but now I have just got my hands on some more of the 208gn A-max's.so I am going to work up another load for that bullet useing the same powder(H1000)will have to post results when I get the chance.

cannot say anything about a lighter bullet.I like the 308win for the lighter ones.but will add that a good friend of mine who passed away likes a 165gn NBT useing 73gn's of IMR4831 with the bullet just touching the lands.he even got 3100fps with that load.and could shoot it out to 300 yards with a dime covering the group.but that was his rifel in a Remmy 700 300wm.

like all have said already just get some bullets and powder and try many loads till you are happy.
