Did this happen with only one cartridge or more than one? Check your OAL to make sure you're not into the Lands.

Both my 06 and .308 will give me a hard lift every now an then. I know everything is right with the cartridges as I'm very meticulous. I've loaded up to and over max when working up loads and what I'm shooting is well below max, no signs of pressure but a hard lift every now and then. Speck of dirt or unburned powder perhaps.
