AFAIK, only Mauser pattern rifle's have a hole in the LH side of the stock inletting for the bolt stop's pivot pin tip, and you can see the enlarged inletting at the forward part of the action area for the Large Ring.



While the length of the inletting does look short, it could be for a Mexican Mauser (which is IIRC a shorter action, but IDK the exact length), or for a custom gunsmith-shortened action (Kurtz) - maybe why the wood between the magazine & trigger inletting is missing.
