The Yugo Mausers (M1924, M24/47, M48 series, etc.etc.) were never factory chambered in anything but 7.92 x 57 JS (commonly referred to as "8mm Mauser"). So, one in 6.5 x 55 IS a rebarrel job.
I'd check it over closely, or have a reputable smith do this, before firing it, if I were the OP.
