goat,

I've been seating and crimping at the same time, using an RCBS die for over 20 years.

When ever I have a lead shaving problem, the places I look at are:

1) Make sure the inside case mouth has been chamfered. Very important with cast bullets.

2) Make sure the case mouth has been belled enough to easily start the bullet.

3) Double check the bullet diameter. Some times cast bullets run a little large, or don't get sized.

4) Verify my dies are clean inside. Lube from cast bullets and shavings can really mess thing up.

Good Luck...

Joe
