I'm a big fan of the .40 - for personal defense I use Magtech's First Defense .40 S&W ammo. It's a solid copper bullet weighing 130 grains that's pushing 1200 FPS at the muzzle, which puts it into the same ballistic territory as the legendary 125 grain JHP .357 round.
