As a Life member of SNM-Sons of Neanderthal Man-I always recommend steel frames, in current production the Browning HP and the various CZs get my nod. An S&W M-639 or M-659 are also excellent. Firing even hot 9MM loads out of a steel frame M1911 is like firing 38 Specials out of an N-frame S&W.
