Or avoid....
When drivin airplanes normal to do a walk around (preflight) before departing. Count the wheels n wings n thing and look in assorted cubbyholes for things that are awry.
When drivin cages or bikes I do a walkaround. Again tires and other little things. AND look in the nooks n crannies of the cage for things that don't belong. The sleeping drunk, mugger, neighbor's pet gnu etc.
Situational awareness helps keep you and yours safe.
