If you want a good semi-auto .22LR, get a Ruger 10/22.
If you want a good plastic AR replica in .22LR, get a S&W M&P 15-22.
If you really want an AR-15 in .22LR, that will serve as a true trainer (correct manual of arms and weight/balance) get one of the CMMG (or similar) AR-15s (or uppers) chambered in .22LR. I have one. It's fantastic. Accurate, reliable, and durable.
