There are a number of after-market selectors available, but none are available to private US Citizens as none were created until after 1986, so unless you are a Class III FFL with a request from a LE agency to evaluate them, you can't legally convert a 17 into a full-auto.

If you live outside the US, it's easier, and cheaper to just buy the selector (one replaces the slide cover, so it's fast and easy).

They all come with detailed instructions... good luck.
