I've fired both the M&P 22 and the GSG 1911 22. I own the M&P and one of my best friends owns the GSG. I love both guns. Being a single action, the GSG has the sweeter trigger. The M&P has the sweeter grip feel and better overall balance. The M&P is also easier to field strip. Aftermarket grips that fit 1911 pistols will also fit the GSG 1911 22. My friend put a beautiful set of faux pearl grips on his, and it definitely beats the M&P on looks. If I had to pick one over the other, it would be a very difficult choice.
