Yes, and the results were very obvious:

You have Obama, Feinstein, et al dying to round up the guns.... and yet throughout Obama's first term, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was done to even try for federal gun control.

The sandyhook shooting meant that they had to come out with loud whining and demands for new laws.... knowing full well it would be impossible to get them passed through the House of Reps.

The state level is where the 2A is being burned. And some of those will face SCOTUS challenge. It's my guess the SCOTUS will uphold most restrictions as long as some type of legal gun ownership in private homes/property is still allowed. Heller only struck down total gun bans.

Time will tell.
